CoolSculpting Area
Cryolipolysis treatment using the original CoolSculpting Elite handpieces to permanently reduce fat in a treated area without surgery or downtime. Most clients see a 20–25% reduction in the treated zone after a single session, with optimal results at twelve weeks. Lumen's medical team reviews suitability at consultation; not every body type is a fit, and we say so when it isn't.
Questions, answered.
What areas can I choose for CoolSculpting Area?
One large area per session — common choices are back, chest, stomach, half-legs, or arms. Smaller focused areas (one shoulder, one hip, a specific scar) work too; Dr Sarah Chen prices by area size, not a fixed menu. If you're unsure which area needs the work most, message her a photo beforehand and she'll suggest where to start.
Does it hurt?
CoolSculpting Area uses firm pressure and targeted product work — it's assertive, not painful. Expect some warmth and mild redness for a few hours. Areas with active acne or raised scarring are treated more gently; Dr Sarah Chen reads the skin as she goes and adjusts. If anything feels sharp rather than firm, say so and pressure eases immediately.
Can I combine CoolSculpting Area with a facial?
Yes — and you save £5 when you book them together. They work well paired because the body treatment handles texture and scarring while the facial addresses the face's own concerns. Total time is usually around 100 minutes. Book the facial second if you want to finish relaxed; book the body treatment second if you'd rather save the more assertive work for when your skin is already warm.
What should I avoid after?
Skip the sauna, steam room, and hot baths for 24 hours — treated skin is more sensitive to heat. Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for a week (cover with clothing or SPF 50). No harsh exfoliants at home for 5–7 days; gentle cleansing and a fragrance-free moisturiser only. Normal activity and gym from 24 hours on.
How often should I book?
For active concerns like body acne or stubborn scarring, every 4–6 weeks across a three-month run builds visible change. For general maintenance (smooth texture, pre-holiday, pre-event), once every 8–12 weeks is enough. One-off bookings work for a specific reason (upcoming trip, photoshoot, wedding); regular bookings deliver more.
Should I change my at-home routine between sessions?
Usually yes — Dr Sarah Chen will suggest a simple three-product routine (cleanse, treat, moisturise) to maintain results between visits. Nothing complicated; no affiliate upsell. If you're already using products that work for you, she'll tell you which to keep and which to adjust. The treatment does 60% of the work; home care does the rest.
Will this clear my body acne or scarring completely?
Honest answer: CoolSculpting Area visibly improves texture and tone and makes existing acne heal faster. It doesn't cure hormonally-driven active acne — that needs GP input alongside treatment work. For post-acne scarring (hyperpigmentation, rough texture), expect 40–70% visible improvement across a 4-session course, with continued fading in the months after. Ice-pick or deep rolling scars need different tools; Dr Sarah Chen will tell you at consultation if you'd be better served elsewhere.
